Friends of the Living Earth,
Living Earth Center was founded on the values of bringing people from all backgrounds and traditions together to share common ground, grow food, and cultivate connection. During these times that feel vulnerable and uncertain, our adherence to those values remains steadfast and unwavering. We have always been and will always be a place where anyone can come, feel welcome, be empowered to grow good things and be united in common awe of the natural world.
In her Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer puts it best:
“A garden is a nursery for nurturing connection, the soil for cultivation of practical reverence. And its power goes far beyond the garden gate - once you develop a relationship with a little patch of earth, it becomes a seed itself.”
Living Earth Center’s power spreads beyond it’s garden plots. Our growing spaces provide food, nourishment, health, and above all else- a place where seeds of connection, understanding, and justice are propagated. We need community growing spaces now more than ever to bridge the divides and sow common threads that hold us together despite the distance between our backgrounds and beliefs.
Despite the challenges ahead, we will stay grounded in our values and the knowledge that our work in our community is well-established and rooted in a sustainable future for all. We are grateful for the continued support of our donors, volunteers, growers and community partners.
With love and gratitude,
Laura Marsala
