LEC's Taste of the Garden Fundraising Dinner was held September 13th, and the majority of the produce used in the dinner was grown in a plot at the Community Garden. That garden plot has continued to produce, growing various heirloom tomatoes, squash, greens, and more. It has continued to be tended by Garden Manager Mal and Garden Volunteer/Board Member Jim Ackil.
Jim and Mal have been making sure that the produce coming out of this plot is not going to waste. All produce they have harvested has been added to the produce coming out of the Community Farm's Produce Donation Plots and has been donated to our community partners, including ECHO Food Shelf, St Peter Food Shelf, and MY Place.
Last Sunday, they hurried to harvest the remaining tomatoes and other non cold-hardy produce before our temperatures dipped below freezing. This week they were donated by Farm Manager SkyAnne. Until the plot is put to bed for the season, all vegetables it produces will be donated to our community partners.
