As we begin 2022, we at Living Earth Center continue to adapt to an ever changing landscape with different challenges and growth opportunities. The past two years have not been easy, but LEC is committed to facing the future with hope and resiliency, bolstered in no small part by the support of the community around us.
We are so excited to again be partnering with BEC to grow produce for our community partners and look forward to both new and continued joint ventures with local area non-profits, organizations, businesses, and individuals who are interested in food security and justice within our community.
We are excited to be implementing sustainable soil management techniques at the Community Farm, including rotational cover crops, a food forest, carbon building mulch, and possible small livestock addition. We invite you to join us on the journey of discovering how these methods can positivity impact the soil health, produce output and general diversity of the ecosystem.
Get Your Garden Shoes On! - Registration for the Garden 2022 Season will be opened beginning January 24th. Return Gardeners will have until February 21st to let us know if they plan to return and general registration will be opened for all in which plots are awarded on a first come- first served basis.
Like last year, 2022 is sure to have its places where growth is necessary. There are still so many things that are in transition, however, Living Earth Center is committed to providing unique spaces to grow food, community, and connection in the Greater Mankato area community. We continue to strengthen our financial foundation, last fall we began investing with Mankato Area Foundation Agency Funds. And this winter were awarded a spot in MAF’s Consultant in Residency Program and continue to find opportunity to adapt and mature with the changing times. We look forward to growing with you!
Whew! What an end to another most extraordinary year and the beginning of another. Living Earth Center remains a place to grow and connect despite the challenges we collectively face and we would not be here without our community of supporters. We are grateful for each and every one of you and look forward to moving into the adventures of 2022 together.
