Monarch Butterfly Tagging Event

Saturday, September 28, 2019
10:00 am12:00 pm
Big Red Barn, Living Earth Community Garden, 170 Good Counsel Dr. Mankato, MN 56001

Monarchs are the one butterfly that everyone knows and can identify with just one glance. This amazing creature over a number of generations will migrate from here in Minnesota all the way down to Mexico. Some scientists call it “one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in the world.” Monarch butterflies have been hit hard over the last decade and there is an effort to provide more habitat and a better chance for survival.
Join Scott Kudelka, Naturalist at Minneopa State Park, at the Big Red Barn on Good Counsel Campus to learn about these beautiful creatures. We will be catching the Monarchs, putting a small tag on their wing and releasing them. This is done to help track the Monarch as it flies south back to its winter home. All ages are welcome!
