Garden Plot Information

Are you a new or returning gardener?
If you are a returning gardener, do you wish to keep the same plot(s) you had last year?
If no, please contact Mal Murphy at gardenmanager@livingearthcentermn.org to set up a time to be reassigned new plot(s).
How many garden plots would you like?
Garden plots are approximately 10' x 10'. The maximum amount of plots a gardener can have is 5 if space permits. New gardeners are asked to start with 1 plot the first year. If plots need to be filled, gardeners may take on more on a year to year basis.

Community Event and Volunteer Information

Please indicate what volunteer team are you interested in? Please see descriptions at the beginning of the form. (Please check all that apply)
All gardeners are asked to join a volunteer "team" to complete 4 hours of volunteer community service.

Demographic Information

Living Earth Center is committed to understanding the views, needs and wants of different members of the community. It asks optional demographic questions to better understand the community we serve, to secure outside funding and grants, and to inform programs and workshops. This allows us to deliver better services and make decisions based on evidence about the local population. Data collected will not be stored in the individual's records, rather collected for qualitative review only. If you do not feel comfortable sharing OPTIONAL the below information, it will not impact your garden application.

Are you:
Are you of Hispanic, Latino, or Latino origin?
How would you describe yourself?
What is your age?
Can you tell us your household income?
Do you consider yourself to be a disabled person?
Do currently or have you served in the U.S. Armed Forces?

Health and Emergency Contact Information

The Living Earth Community Garden is a no hose garden. However, exceptions are made for those with documented medical need.

Please provide the name of an emergency contact that does not also garden at the Living Earth Community Garden

Waiver and Contract

Anyone who uses the garden must submit signed liability waivers. Please download, sign, and date liability waivers for anyone who plans to use or be in the Garden. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf. Liability waivers can be uploaded online or mailed to the LEC Office.  Please note that anyone in the garden who does not have a signed waiver will be asked to sign or may be asked to leave.

I have read and understand the liability waiver. Liability waivers can be found and downloaded at the top of this page.

Garden Contract

Each primary gardener must submit a garden contract that ensures they understand the rules and obligations of gardening at the Living Earth Garden. By signing the contract, the primary gardener assumes responsibility for the plot and agrees to follow the rules and guidelines outlined.

I have read and understand the Garden Contract. I understand that I must submit a signed contract before gardening at the community garden. Garden contracts can be found at the top of this page.

Please note, only ONE garden contract per plot is required.
Payment and Fees

Plots are priced on a sliding scale. The first plot is $40, and each additional plot is $10. We invite gardeners who can afford more to pay more if they are willing. This fee will go toward the expenses of the community garden (electricity, water bills, compost, toilet fees, tools, maintenance, education, etc.). The cost includes ONE wheelbarrow of compost per plot (if available), water, the use of tools, and access to the barn. Nobody is turned away for inability to pay. Scholarships are available upon request. If you are interested in a scholarship, please indicate yes in the "scholarship" line below, and someone will contact you to discuss options.
